Nick Jonas Joins the Cast of Chaos Walking

Nick Jonas will star with Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland in Lionsgate's post-apocalyptic thriller Chaos Walking.

With shooting set to kick off soon, director Doug Liman is building the cast he needs for sci-fi adaptation Chaos Walking. The latest additions is Nick Jonas. Jonas will join the cast of Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelsen, Demian Bichir and Kurt Sutter. The script was adapted by Charlie Kaufman, Patrick Ness, Lindsey Beer, Gary Spinelli and John Lee Hancock. Allison Shearmur, Erwin Stoff and Doug Davison are producing.

Based on Patrick Ness’ book trilogy: The Knife Of Never Letting Go, The Ask And The Answer and Monsters Of Men, the story takes place on a colony planet where almost all women have been killed by a virus and all living creatures are struck by The Noise, a virus that inflicts immersive visions of ones' every thought. A corrupt autocrat takes the chance to seize control of the human settlements in order to launch a strike on native alien race the Spackles, blaming them for the infection that's apparently killing human women. Young Todd Hewitt (Tom Holland), the only boy in a town solely comprised of men, rebels to stop the oncoming destruction. Going on the run with his dog, he teams up with a mysterious girl (Daisy Ridley), who is the source of a precious patch of silence.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Jonas will be Davy Prentiss Jr., a young soldier in the army of the mayor (Mads Mikkelsen) who also happens to be the man's son, and is envious of his close mentorship relationship with Todd.

Jonas, known for his work as a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter (his third solo album, Last Year Was Complicated, was released in June 2016), has begun to build up a notable acting career. He'll soon star in Sony's Jumanji remake hitting theaters in December. He previously starred in the Sundance hit Goat.

Chaos Walking is aiming at a March 2019 release date.
